Now sorted. Utility side opening or old roller shutters
Hi there if anyone has swapped to plain sides in an ex utility land rover like these;

I dont mind buying the whole panel if i have to as above. Missed out on the ones linked as had a call out at work and had no signal.

If not fire engine/ electric board roller shutters as long as there only in the side pannel (not down the tub)

Im going to make a back for a double cab out of a land rover roof so a pair would be ideal or just one.

The ones linked are ideal if anyone has any sitting around.

Happy to pan for a pallet or collect. Cheers Defender puma dormobile camper

I had the roller shutter type when it came from the environment agency. I removed and sold them but they took up a huge amount of space in the back and were very heavy. I like the idea of hatch type as showen above. I will dig a photo of the shutters when I sold them.
Hope this is of help.. Range Rover p38 4.6 99 lpg(gone Sad )

I once put side lockers into a truckman top ,very easy to make ,I sourced the frame and doors from a catering van builder ,about £90 for the pair then used the panel I cut out bonded onto 12mm ply for the insert into the door framing,hinges were also from the catering manufacturer,gas struts from bq kitchen range,if I was to do it again I would have the doors hung on bottom ,ie dropping down with restrictors fitted so the door acts as a table at 90 degrees to body I will try to dig out some photos

Thanks Guys, either of those types would also be ideal. Im liking the roller shutter, have to look out for a set now. They seem perfect for what I want to do. Very Happy

If I dont find any though or have any luck on here Ive found the perfect excuse to tour the local burger vans Thumbs Up Defender puma dormobile camper

Tom,

If you contact Nevets22002 on Landy Zone he found a company in Birmingham that made a set for him and from memory the company specialises in Horse Box fabrication.

I can drop him a PM if you like.

Good luck

Andy

Tack box doors is what I'm putting in mine, on ebay for £100 brand new from horsebox building company, they do come up now and then.. Series 3 88" side panels fit perfectly, fitted one of mine in the cold today!

Cheers. Alex

Thanks Guys keep the ideas coming. Im in no real hurry so keeping a look out for some roller shutters and price up some done to fit if the Company Andy said still do them.

Ive got a series roof lined up ready cheers Alex

Think it should be worth the effort as opposed to a truckman top purely for the aspect of standard roof racks fitting and should still look in keeping. Opening sides are a must though like my soft top is now Smile

A few possibilities now as Leenorthants horse box windows/ lockers look the right sort of sizes to and a good price;
