Put mine though the local high tech car wash, just fits in with one inch to spare due to rack / lights. I know the owner of the wash and have seen the various chemicals (all supplied by Car Plans parent company) that it uses.
Anyhow, have put other 'normal' cars though and always come out gleaming. Sure did a good job at washing the defender but guess what - engine warning light came on. Drove the car home (only 2 miles) and was on all the way, thought I would open all the doors ( a bit of water got in via the sunroof, which the high pressure wash jets pass by at just 6 inches) and left bonnet up. 30 mins later problem has gone. All seems fine, but am puzzled as to what a bit of water caused it a- has happened twice now, both times after the car wash, so assume it must not like getting wet? Heres a pic of it toward the end of the wash cycle (which lasts aprox 12 mins) ![]() Click image to enlarge |

You should try going though in my old Series 1 - it was literally soaked - as you drive in you pass over some upward pointing jets that do the underneath - had water spurting up all over the place. But it did get all the winter gunk off and unlike the Defender did not mind a bit, just carried on as usual.
As I said, it works by chemical reaction, pic is of one but last rise - first three passes use four mixes of separate chemicals that produce a soft foam, dirt literally just runs down the side even before the pressure wash stage. Its repeated with surface protector and a final rinse. Does not use any brushes hence no marks and final rinse is with purified ionised water that dries without leaving any marks. At least not on the vehicle ![]() |

On my old 110 that would have had the added benefit of cleaning the interior as well

Hi Kez,
I presume the pressure washer does the side as well? Directly into the AIR intake!!!!!!! Could this be the cause of your problem. If there was a RAI fitted then this wouldn't happen. ![]() ![]() |

Should add I don't work for he company, just got chatting to owner who also has a land rover (or three!)

Is'nt there an ECU on the bulk head in the engine bay almost directly beneath the bonnet to bulk head seal?

As jets cover all of car (unlike rain) a RAI would make little difference - though if you want to give it a go I for one would be interested in how it goes (assuming it wont void your warrantee
