I got one tube of grease from the dealers and opened up the filler plugs to have a look see.
I placed a yellow piece of wire down to the bottom of the housing and it came back with a decent coating of grease on the bottom end. Would it be a bad idea to add half a tube on each side as piece of mind or better left alone. Not sure if it's better over or underfull - I know in a bearing situation there must be an air gap for heat transfere but in this case it's similar to splash lubrication I guess. Any opinions |

when I originally changed the diff oil it was mixed with water and had some lumps of what felt like grease in the oil.
The swivel seals allow a very slight bit of grease on the balls but I wouldn't say they are leaking as such that it makes a huge mess. Would topping up not do any harm if one cannot gauge a level in any reliable means |

When i did my discovery swivels i filled them right to the top with the grease tubes supplied by Land Rover. I've not had any leaks or other problems in the three years since. 130 crew cab
