Nothing major but an update none the less. Had a delivery from urban truck the other day containing my twin drl bumper. Got it fitted up and then came the wiring head ache. First off as its a twin drl edition you have two wiring controllers to hide and a big nest of wiring that needed to be shortened in places and lengthened in others. Got the wiring all tidied and hidden and got it all wired up, then ran into a problem: the drl's wouldn't dip when side lights were switched on! I've fitted numerous drl bumpers to customers cars so I was adamant I hadn't made a mistake but went over everything in the little 4 page wiring booklet that comes with the bumper. After triple checking everything I still couldn't work it out so called simon, after him sending me the original wiring diagrams that the booklets were based on I discovered the wire colours were printed wrong in the booklet! A quick call to simon just to let him know of the mistake and after switching some wires around it was all working as it should.
The urban truck drl bumpers have a follow you home feature which enables the lights to stay on for up to 2 minutes after engine switched off (when wired direct to battery) I'm not sure I like this and may yet wire he, to a switch in the car somewhere. Other than the wiring hick up the bumper is very good quality and the lights are fantastic, credit to simon he was very apologetic when he realised the mistake with the diagram! Not the clearest pictures as they're from an iPhone but you get the idea Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |
