Hello Lorryman100
More of the same here, I've had my for Puma 1 year 1 month today. Covered 7K miles, each one of them without issue... (it drives really well) apart from a cracked fuel filler breather pipe, which I now understand comes with a sub 3 year life expectancy... all is good. Just serviced her with all oils, fluids and filters now changed, so looking forward to the next year... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Mines two years old in January with 10000 miles on the clock
And it's great touch wood. Only had a small issue with paint which was at 6 months old. This ones a keeper for me. I love it |

I had a few issues with mine over the first 2 years of its life ... But since then [It's 7 years old now] it's been faultless Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Same here.
Lots of issues when first brought, a total of seven weeks in the workshop being repaired. Since the end of April it`s been faultless. I`ve now had it for 1 year and done 2500 miles. I may now start to have some trust in the car, but it`s got a long way to go to better my last car. Time will tell. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

Glad to read these positive stories. I've had mine for just over a year, don't like it and don't trust it. I'm hoping the love will grow as I get things done to it and hope it proves to be reliable.

Three years for me, 40,000 miles. Other than a squeaky EGR valve thingy (which I did nothing with but the squeak went away so I assumed it's fixed), a puncture in the back passenger side wheel and a broken flasher relay there have been no faults, no issues and it's been a good car. I've paid out about £60 in non-servicing maintenance which is pretty good going, I'd say.
Just put it through it's first MOT and passed with no warnings. I've had a lot of cars and this is the first one to pass an MOT with no issues at all. |

Seems a thread which Martin should merge with this one here started by bpman...
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic31580.html Mine is over 6 years young now, with a good 72k km. Nothing which I consider serious went wrong in that time, not more than with other Volvos and Audis I have had before. All the detail in the above referred thread. Eric, the post is here in the Technical section as it shows pictures I took of a diagnostic test on my Puma. It was posted as a good feeling post I have about my Puma and not as a competition post. If I wanted it posted in the above thread that is where I would have put it instead of starting this new thread.

Fail to understand what you mean by competition post. Still see both threads have developed posts pointing to a very similar direction.

Heading for 1 year old and thinking about booking it in for a service.
Not a single warranty claim and zero defects to date, no parts have failed or fallen off. It's done over 8000 miles across England, The Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland and delivers fun both on and off-road. Am I happy with it? "Absolutely delighted, I find it delivers far more fun than I ever expected"! |

18 months and 20k miles down the road, on my third transfer box and can hear the ticking of the fourth one coming on. Soaking right foot syndrome in the rain, impossible to drive smoothly at slow speed, extended turning circle rules out tight turns on or off road, zero soundproofing makes every stone chip sound like a machine gun attack and a vehicle definitely not fit for purpose. I did 600 miles between Friday lunch and Saturday evening, the rain and spray was appalling, the fog on Saturday was thick and deep, I can think of no other vehicle I would rather ave been in, cold and soaked right foot included. Why it is so good at motorway mile munching and so useless at what it is designed to do baffles me.

Mate know where you are coming from. But keep the faith, it took the full warranty before mine was finished. Had 62K mile on it at warranties end. It started very badly, like day 2 of ownership. But it got better and better and lesser problematic as warranty passed. It's been many places now and done a lot of work like a good Defender should. I have gone from no faith lets burn it, to planning to drive it around the world. chin up....remember you earn a Defender's respect, like all good relationships. My Defender and travels |

Lorryman, good thread, sorry it has been dragged sideways. I'm a fairly clumsy Mac user but have bridging software to the world of Microsoft. What diagnosis equipment- software do you suggest to use. I have yet to buy a Nanocome, is that the go? I feel some diagnosis tool is all part of owning a modern Defer, and your the man with the know how. thanks Jason My Defender and travels |

@newhue have a look at this post. I will be updating it with new diagnostic tools as soon as I get the chance and time to do it
