Overland expedition Argentina/Chile
Hi everybody,

I am planning my first overland expedition with my Defender 90 to south Argentina and Chile. I would like to ship the truck from Europe and collect it in Argentina (it would be perfect to collect it in Comodoro Rivadavia, in the south south).

I contacted a company located in Switzerland (I am swiss) dealing with international shipping but so far no answer.

Did someone in the forum has experience in overland expedition? How complicate, in term of paperwork, is to ship a car in a container? Online is quite difficult to get a clear overview...

Cheers,
Fred

Hi Fred

Good to know that other European will show up here!
When you are expecting to start your trip?

Some forum members have done the same, but collecting the car in Buenos Aires. Im not sure if is possible to collect it in Comodoro Rivadavia and probably will be better (in terms of costs) collect it in Buenos Aires and go by car to the south took, depends of your willing to drive, around 2-3 days to be in Comodoro Rivadavia).

The paperwork is not so difficult as far as I know. Take contact with Mog at this forum. He do more less the same that you like to do this year. He maybe can help you in the papers and permits needed.

In the meantime, some webpages that can help you with information.

For our shipping to Oz and back we used CARS - http://www.carseurope.net

It is more expensive than a general container shipper, but it is a more personalised service and they offer Customs Brokerage packages in addition.

Might be worth emailing them for a general idea / quote. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/
