In a fix - post photos of your Defender in a spot of bother
Whilst I was not the owner of this vehicle (it was HM Government) I was the vehicle commander on this day during the Holy Cross riots in Belfast of 2001. An interesting moment that was resolved by the ever able driver, LSgt Stanton, sticking it into reverse and gunning it. Sadly for some of the rioters in the photo, they will have returned to their cars parked down the street to find wing mirrors, wings and doors taken off and scattered across the street. But as we all know, it is hard enough to reverse a normal Defender in perfect conditions, let alone a 3.5t 'Snatch' variant, batoned-down and going as fast as a V8 will allow. Ho hum, good times. Very Happy

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

So much more attractive than a Defender. If you're going to do an NI Tour, why not do it in style!! Monsieur Le Grenadier

Usually this ford is only about a foot or two deep at most. 2012 floods, underestimated the under currents of the "stream", luckily once the footwells had filled up the tyres found traction and pulled me out. The ECU was only about 1" from disaster Whistle Laughing

Your Defender obviously doesn't leak enough!

You also forgot the golden rule of deep water crossings - have the downstream door open to flood the interior and so prevent the vehicle from floating.

Crikey bob, you lot are making me feel the years, I was there in '76... Shocked

Not sure we had even upgraded to S3s by then... Rolling with laughter

@Grenadier - what a superb suggestion for a thread - most entertaining even though it has only just started, it should be a good one to watch... Bow down

But I notice that at least you kept your flat-cap dry (bottom right of your steering wheel) and it was no doubt doned shortly after the photo was taken to give you appropriate levels of rural superpowers to get the S2 out of the water. Or if not, at least to 'cut-a-dash' at the local pub whilst waiting to be winched out..... Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Given it's half the reason we buy them, there should be some great photos yet to come....

Sadly I do not have the one of me and a Wolf stuck in a tank track on Salisbury Plain, stupid-o'clock in the morning, mid-winter, Censored with rain. 4hrs to get it out, after the suction of the mud pulled it in so deep that all the rear lights were covered and tipped at an angle, the footwell was full of mud. As I was reminded by the driver that officers are not allowed to drive, guess who was nipple deep in Wiltshire mud, pushing from the rear..... Big Cry Monsieur Le Grenadier

Laughing Its my response to the red socks and bobble hat brigade.

A flat cap belongs in every Series Land Rover. How else would you demist the screens ? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV
