I think if you do it with a relay it should work.

Does anyone know if you can purchase the genuine hearted seat male and female 2 pole plugs?
If so any link at all? The genuine seat pads are too much of a hassle to get hold of. The Waeco pads have three wire connections for different elements. As I have bought the FCX wiring kit and genuine switches this has genuine fitted plugs from loom to the seat. I'm thinking of getting a Waeco kit and binning the loom except for the pads and wires. Then, wiring these to the genuine plugs of which I'd need to buy some but can I? Can I wire the earth and two element wires this way into a two pole plug? This would be about 70w or just under by my calculations, which should be under the load handling of the plugs. This would leave me with full power on or off via dash switch. Normally it would only be either element 1 lower power or element 2 higher power with the Waeco switch. If assuming there will be no problem powering both? |

Yeah, on hindsight as that is not how they are designed to work from the factory its best not to.
Question is then, which to choose, the lower or higher heat setting only. I'm sure I will be able to work something out, I'll get the Waeco kit soon. |

If its like the the seat cover one
no1 comfortable to leave on , slower to warm , more like std defender front ones I think no2 rapid heat up , but to much really after a while im looking at doing my rear folding I would go with lower setting but if I was fitting in the front to non heated seats then it would be nice to have the double setting switch so best of both worlds , but nice to have std switches to match the rest mmm ! Not sure on that one ! Even if I fit in the rear I would like std switchs in the back |

What I think I'll do is some temp wiring and test as I go, perhaps using the Waeco switch somewhere might be an idea too.
I know it is an on off on but that doesn't worry me, only issue is that the power would be running directly through it but it is with in its power handling as far as I'm aware. I don't however know what sort of illumination they have? |

I'll have a look at it, I'll test out what suits best.
I'll try and stick to a single setting with the dash switch only, if I feel I need more adjustability I'll have to look into extra switching. I wonder what the wattage of genuine seat pads actually is? |

Which for? The Waeco's are 25w and 45w I belive according to the manual. Perhaps this is variable on model though.
I assume the wattage you mention above is per individual pad if which there is two per seat so adds up correctly. |

Just been having a look at the Waeco's I have bought this evening.
The current draw is listed in the manual as well as the wattage. All seems fine for my purposes as I won't want the loom at all only the pads on their own. So I will soon be selling a brand new Waeco loom and manual etc. After having a look at the Waeco loom and giving it a quick test and looking at the switches it appears they are constantly lit with the ignition on. (Tested on 9v battery) This is the little red neon and it appears to stay on all the time of switched on or off? Perhaps it was just the voltage I was using and the fact I didn't pay that much attention to it. If it does however stay permanently illuminated I'm even more glad I went for a retro genuine loom than using those even if it's only capable of one heat setting. On question though, when removing the seat base there will be two plugs to in-clip won't there? From source to seat base and from seat base to seat back. What's the procedure for XS heated seats? If anyone could kindly tell me then I can copy that as best I can as the factory fit as I will be hardwiring anyway. |
