Cheers guys, I enjoyed making it!

All filmed on a GoPro for anyone interested. I was so impressed with how it came out, considering that it's roughly the size of a box of matches and is waterproof etc!

Enjoy your Christmas and new year everyone,

David Cheers, David

Sorry it's taken so long but busy time of year.

A couple of photos...and a video from the GoPro to come, once I get round to finish the editing.

Thanks both ! Very Happy

Walfy,

whilst the 'Tread Lightly' ethos wasn't followed to the letter there was a group of mature, very well behaved Defender enthusiasts, causing no issues to the BYWAYS as all. Yes, we maybe could've split into smaller groups but the same number of vehicles would've travelled the same route. Plus, with one group with a dedicated 'lead car' with a good navigator and excellent 'plain knowledge' the less chance of any one going off piste. In fact most of the water was driven around and not through!

Absolutly no need for tears Big Cry on this one Walfy Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

You say no need for Big Cry Big Cry , I think there is. No matter how responsible you are the impression you give is a big group of offroaders out to trash the Plain.
I know, my last fulltime job, I was working on the Plain, that lasted 4 yrs. So I know the impression that big groups give. I had regular briefings that when I was out on the Plain to report any vehicle that was off piste. Even by a vehicles width, ie going round a waterhole or other obstacle.
For that reason alone I very rarely go out on the Plain in a group anymore. If I go out it's normaly with Jamie for a quick trundle round. 110 D250 SE HT

I kind of see your point, but as I find with my job, the act will always out weigh the impression. After all it's not like we were out in a big group of challenge type trucks, with the exception of the odd winch and snorkel there wasn't an aggressive looking 'off roader' in the group and not even a sniff of a bit of a wheel spin to trash the plain.

Any one who saw the us on the day would have seen us acting as a group of sensible Defender drivers and would've been left with that exact impression. Thumbs Up Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

Thor, EXCELLENT video,...& the music was OK too.
From what I saw, I can't see how there was any damage to the "environment"?
Were you far from the Military area?
Thanks, I enjoyed it. Pickles.

I do have to agree with Walfy, it doesn't matter what sort of 'truck' you are in when out greenlaning, to the general public they are just a 4x4, to the anti brigade they are the epitome of the automobile antichrist. Whilst we are doing a legal act there are many out there who want to make it illegal, I smoke and whilst it is still a legal act I can't just smoke when and where I want to so please just be aware of the impression you are making to the general public.

Cheers Pickles,

Yes music is a proper tough choice. I used 'Rollin' by limp bizkit on another video (on my YouTube channel) off roading with the G4 Owners Club, but accidentally added the remix version with a crazy amount of swearing. I'd already deleted the working copy so editing again was going to take forever at my current skill level haha.

yes mate we were very close. No troops out and about that I saw, being so close to Christmas. Thumbs Up Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful!

I can also vouch for the impeccable organisation and care taken by Steve and everyone to make sure as little damage as possible was done. Barely a wheel span all day and we avoided bits that were overused/in need of a rest.

Remember the videos you see are only 10 min or so long and as such contain all the 'interesting' bits, but you don't see all the lovely trundling around, chatting and general loveliness in between which was very in keeping with responsible use of the plains.

And also remember, this is the Salisbury plains military testing ground, not the gardens of a national trust mansion or a national park bridleway! Whistle Cheers, David
