Thanks custom90steve. So does that mean my EGR is on the way out or doing its job?

As mentioned above, that's the normal behaviour of it.
If you get poor running / squawking then it needs cleaning or replacing, I've never found cleaning viable and replacement is expensive even if you don't pay for labour and do it yourself. Mine played up one to many times, went to Alive go it shut of via Remap and blanked off. Runs do much better now and no further issues, eventually it'll give you poor running performance and eventually illuminate the Amber light on dash. Which is an MOT fail, it's not a case of if but when, it will happen. If you turn it off via the OBD after a few cycles it'll come back on yet again unless fixed. Sod's law dictates that this happens weeks before an MOT, and this happened to me not once but twice. |

Cheers custom90steve, no MOT here in AUS so blanking off will be on the cards

If you go for a solid blank you'll need it remapped, I'm sure your aware of that anyway.
If you go for the ones with the holes they can be hit and miss. I realised shortly after I posted about the MOT in Aus. |

Sorry it can`t fail the mot for the engine management light being on, at this moment in time.
As long as it passes the emissions test and has a cat it`s a pass and advise. Some new ish fords don`t even have a e.m.l. There was something back in 2012 to bring it in but it never happened, or got removed ( usual vosa cock up, anyone remember the start of cat testing!). It`s not listed as a failure item on the vts device either. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires. |

I can confirm that the Pumas in RSA can be blanked off by a solid plate WITHOUT the MIL light coming on. A lot of the owners also unplugged theirs at the grey plug on the EGR and non of us ever had the MIL light on (been running like that for 4 months now). Not sure if the ROW specs runs a different program regarding the EGRs which prohibit the MIL light from illuminating? Seems like there is no need for the remap here....do not know about Aus? |
