2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Power loss
Very long stop start journey on the m6 north and south in last 2 days. On the way up all was fine. On the way down when pulling out to overtake 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th I experienced some power loss.

Not all the time and it seemed to lag for 4/5 seconds and then suddenly pick up. Once up to speed no issues at all and ran fine on minor roads when going through the gears round corners and up gradients.

Anyone experienced the same? Unfortunately I don't have diagnostics but no warning lights came on.

Wonder if it may be a dodgy batch of fuel?

Could be, or slight fuel delivery obstruction or more likely a MAF misreading or EGR stuck open a little.
More complicated issues may be fuel rail pressure or turbo leakage.
Most things boil down to something very simple.
Nearly every issue I've ever had has been EGR related and nothing else, you'd not even realise it hardly until you notice the difference.

Mine started with those symptoms, then it was hardly able to go beyond 120 km/h and finally it couldn't go beyond 60 km/h - it was the EGR. It felt almost like a rocket when a new one was fitted. 88 Ser. 3 1980 -sold

Thanks folks will check egr but will be annoyed if it is that as the new one has only been on about 6 months........
