Strength of rear cross member
Grief, what are these things made of? Cardboard?

I was reversing into my drive last night and and managed to reverse into the pillar (note to self, do something about the reversing lights.

I didn't hit hard, but on inspection this morning, as anticipated there was a small gouge in the NAS bumper, but i was pretty shocked to see that the crossmember had been pushed in 4 or 5 mm.

Next job is to find out who can fix it, so off to the body shop tomorrow to discuss.

They do seem pretty thin on the late Defenders, hence why mine is covered in Dinitrol. Don't want the rust getting a hold.

I'm not sure if i would be confident bolting a Nato tow hitch to the later ones.....it does look as though it would just bend, not a problem with a regular tow hitch as braced to the chassis, but if the Nato still bolts on there isn't much holding it.

I towed 21 guns & beaters and 14 gundogs up a 1:5 flint hill road. I would hate to guess the weight including the Ivor cattle trailer... TC worked hard for the first time. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
