Shooting forum
So, i am spoilt by the excellence and ease of use and friendliness etc etc etc of this forum. But, i am struggling to find a decent shooting forum. I wont name the one i am on as thats a bit unfair but it is sooo not as good as d2.net. Anyone got any recommendations please? General shooting pigeon, clays, rabbits etc....nothing too specific, vermin and a few clays about sums it up!. Hope any replies are not a conflict by posting on here!!!

Sorry I do not wish to cause offence but I do not believe in guns, even less the killing of Rabbits, Birds etc.
vermin can be controlled with more humane measures. I have seen animals suffer from people who do not get a clean shot. Sorry but that is how I feel.
Target shooting and Clay pigeon shooting I suppose is fine but I still do not believe in guns.

Each to their own, I can't see the attraction and hysteria that goes with football but we have a common interest on here with Land Rovers which bring together a very wide range of people together and demonstrates that we can all get on together when the excess baggage is forgotten about.

You say vermin can be controlled.......So how do you control vermin without killing them? Say pigeons for example? And dont say a bloody scarecrow cos that dont work. So next time you tuck into your cornflakes think how the crop got produced. Have you ever seen what a fox does to a feild of lambs? It just rips them all apart. Do you prefer to let that happen or just put a slug staight through the heart of a fox and drop it to the ground in a nano second instead.???

Steady, I agree completely with shooting as a method of vermin control. A clean shot is instant and final, those that cannot achieve that are the people that any anger is directed at not the method. Poisoning and trapping are drawn out proceedures and strike on the bounds of morality. The humane way to end any creatures life for whatever reason should be instant, a good shot is far better than anything else.

Off Topic Hold on guys this is not A forum to start issues etc,

Im a shooter my self, part time farmer and ex game keeper and i back the hunt in my area etc but i do also see where other parties are coming from in there views, the main reason for animal suffering is due to someone who is a bad shot, but on the other hand, vermin being killed by traps or poison die a worse death as its longer then a Stag, rabbit or fox getting a lung, heart or head shot!

You may not believe in guns but there out there, and there used to put food on the table and to protect food that goes on the table from a supermarket and has done for years!

I could go on and on about town and city folk but i wont because as i said i see the view of others and respect that!

If you did not like then post then report it to martin and get it stopped!

Cheers

Stu

Does for FAo need to know what you have or just that you are a suitable person to own them? www.td5.org

If you apply for a SGC [Shot Gun Cert] you are investigated by the FAO and have an interview. Also need to ensure all security aspects are met.

The SGC also lists all guns. There are specific rules you need to understand. Lots on the web to review and would suggest you contact your local FAO. They are human and all the ones I have met have all been very helpful and friendly. BM52

Just received my shotgun licence. Clay shooting only, any recommendations for a first gun?

second hand obviously and I am sure lots of people will suggest makes and models etc but the most important thing is the fit. Get it wrong and your shooting will suffer badly. I had a badly fitted gun and when I took some lessons it became clear that the stock was two inches too short. Got a gun that fitted and those clays did not stand a chance!!!
