A 7.5 R16 has a diameter of 31"
A 235/85/16 has a diameter of 31.7" 0.7' will give an extra 0.35" or about 9mm difference in height of vehicle. Bit of handwaving, depends on depth of tread/tyre pressure etc but gives you a rough idea. Brendan |

After responses to a previous request to measure vehicle heights - it was apparent that no two Defenders (even with the same wheels/tyres) were the same height.
Springs are another variable in your equation - so allow for a degree of tolerance in your research. Whether 10mm is enough I wouldn't like to bet on? Waste of time dealing with published sizes - tyres are not circular when inflated and carrying the weight of a vehicle. I've got a set of new Good Year Wrangler MTRs (less than 1000 miles) on my 2014 90 Station Wagon and just 5 minutes ago I checked the overall vehicle height - a couple of mm short of 2000mm. Distance from edge of rim to edge of tread around 170mm - but at the bottom where the tyre is fully loaded that drops to 160mm. Of course the distance from edge of the rim to a line from the centre of the tread at its highest point is far greater. |
