In series with the contacts......Reckon it'll drive you nuts though!

The buzzer or the contacts
Still not clear how to do it though. Plug and play I can do, though my electrical knowledge stops at wiring a 13amp plug |

The RDX relay is capable of handling 120 watts. I have not seen an RDX relay but I presume it's a 4 pin relay as below.....
Determine what cable comes out of contact 87 on the relay base socket. Looking at the diagrams it is green with a black stripe for a Puma. Cut this cable and splice the positive of the buzzer to the bit of cable going back to the relay base and the negative on the bit remaining. On reflection the same green/black cable goes to your hazard warning switch you could tap in there too which may be easier. Dependant on how the hazard warning switch is connected you may not even have to cut any cables a double spade crimp may suffice. If this sounds too difficult find yourself a sparky or get a hearing aid/ear trumpet. I'm going mutton jeff too. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Pretty sure that wont work as the buzzer load will trigger the flasher and it will buzz all the time. Really you need a buzzer and two diodes and take the feed for each diode from each of the indicator circuits after the column switch or hazard switch.

look up a company called audicator on the net
good little units made for bikes but fit anything 12v simple wiring easy fit basically a flasher warning device . buzzs after 10 flashes cancels with foot on brake ( all adjustable etc ) very small unit think there about £30 buzzer starts off low volume then gets louder really good thought out device |

Rallysteve, there is no flasher unit on the diagrams I'm looking at, it is the relay itself that cycles. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I fitted a audicator for the same reason , electronic led flasher units are quiet and as a safety thing they are very good
(also I already had one as I took it off a bike I sold ) sure its 4 wires , 1 to each indiacator , 1 earth , 1 brake light |

They are quieter but you'd be hard pressed not to see the indicator flash on the dash anyway.

yes I know what you mean , but when someone pulls out in front of because you did leave your indicator on , and we have all thought sitting at a junction " is he/she turning in here or what "
and on a bike they can be a life saver bright sun on the dash , in yours eyes , distracted by something , towing and looking in mirrors at junctions may make you not notice a light , but your hear a buzzer |

The RDX relay is the flasher unit. It is load triggered as the original flasher unit/flasher relay is (R141 on the post 02 TD5 diagram). I.e. when a load is placed on the output (which runs via the indicator stalk) the relay starts to cycle the output. As soon as the circuit is opened (you return the stalk to centre) the output no longer sees a load and the relay stops cycling. If it were a standard relay which operated the indicators they would not flash, they would just remain on constantly.
I will look at the wiring diagram later to show how to connect a simple buzzer. Steve 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread |

Puma diagrams is what I was looking at and I believe I said the same thing.
Any ambiguity and you could just fit a pulsing buzzer as depicted on my original RS link (when the RS Site was working) wired in to the hazard warning/coil feed of the relay itself. No wishing to enter into a further argument but you could not put the buzzer in the supply in series as the voltage drop would affect the operation of the flasher unit and if you installed it from the relay feed to earth it will buzz all the time, pulsing buzzer or not! 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

Me neither it's immaterial now really but following on I did a little digging on tinternet and whilst not in series this would work perhaps? Out of interest with a standard or RDX relay does anybody know if the coil becomes de-energised during the cycling process or is it just the contacts that cycle? http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/product.php?xProd=637 Click image to enlarge If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
