In my defense I can say that I used the search tool to see if something popup but nothing useful appears.
I have a severe leakage (when I said severe means more than 200 cc in a 4 hrs of not too heavy rain) from the rubber seal that is betweeen the windscreen frame and the frame where the vent was located. The seal in the picture circled in red. ![]() Click image to enlarge There is some sealant that can help to stop it without take out all the frames? Cheers! Eduardo,
Are you sure it's not the defunct hingeblocks? Mine was leaking through there, three bolts and they come off. That would be a quick check for starters. Sikaflex29i is the best sealant in my book. ![]() Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Good luck Eduardo. I do know people have sealed the same seal below the windscreen before.
![]() They recommend the same sealant too. ![]() http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic28654....khead+seal If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

As K9
![]() Sikaflex to the back of the hinge blocks cured it-such a quick fix as well I do my thing and you do yours. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, and you are not in this world to live up to mine |

Another alternative (my favourite) is butyl tape. It sticks to anything for as long as you want and seals 100%. You just make a long "sausage" and push it into the gap. I've used it for everything over the years and, unlike some sealants, it never peels off. Our caravan is 27 years old and you can still dig it out of the cracks, roll it around a bit and seal up other areas

are you sure its the bulk head seal?
i suspect its the vent flap seals that are letting water in? |

door seal where it is forced to bend round the angle of the bulkhead just below the top hinge could also be the culprit, water can quickly seep in there and it drips off the door hinge plastic cover into the footwell, check to see if the door seal is a tight fit round that angle.

For something different I used Captain Tolleys creeping crack cure and a small syringe to apply it directly onto the foam seal which soaked it up like a sponge, also did the Wipac, nas lights

Only my opinion.
Buy looks like the windscreen hinge has been off at some point to paint it black. Will assume whoever put it back did not use mastic sealant where the bolts go through. Took mine off an early 90 once and someone had liberally applied tiger seal or similar in these holes with the bolts. Not sure if same on later Defenders, but if hingres not bolted down tight enough this will leak too. If it were me I have would take windscreen surround out, and replace roof rubber, bulkhead seal, and door rubbers. As putting mastic in is assuming something is perished and is continuing to perish. This is the area that needs to be water tight partly for electrics drivers side but also look on old knackered bulkheads and you will see the rust holes it eventually creates. But hey you probably have loads of money and won't keep it that long. Regards Peter. |

The picture is of a TD5 and I think it was only used for representation purposes as Eduardo has a 110 Stornoway Grey? The hinge blocks and door hinges on certain models were supplied painted black originally.
What on Earth has money and the OP's intention of keeping the vehicle got to do with it? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
