Try some WD40 on the steering uni to see if this temporarily fixes the problem, then you will know whether the uni is at fault or not. Regards

Sounds very much like a UJ. That would definitely explain the stiffness in one part of the rotation.
I guess that if the steering box was knocked out of allignment then it would have the same effect but you'd probably expect other symptoms. That must have been one hell of a pothole! Given that the LR is capable of rock crawling and I've bounced mine (unintenionally) up some rather large curbs in the past, I'm amazed it knocked the steering out of alignment:!: I assume you hit the hole with one wheel only. I assume also they've checked the connection of the steering rod to the wheels. It might be worth taking it off one wheel and trying the steering then - to see whether you're getting the same issue. I asked a while ago if anyone had a stiff area in their steering as it was the best way to describe it. Mine is about 2 o'clock to 3 oclock on the turn, where it is stiff, and then normal. It seems as if when releasing the wheel for return after a corner it wants to stay at a specific area. Is that what you are feeling as well? It happened after my accident in Feb where some of the under sterring mech was replaced. 2008 Defender 110 60 year Edition (sold unfortunately)

Steering box needed and will be fitted under warrenty...however they suggested that i might like to take it in next time on standard wheels and tyres and not wind the lockstops in
Also need a new ABS unit and a rear diff seal You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |

Steve,
Did you take the diff guard off for the rear diff seal? Did you go to Hunters? Ian |
