I've been thinking about getting a set of these wheels for a good while to put on my 265 75 16 cooper stts for the winter so as to look after the alloys and for a bit more traction on the fields from the stock pirelli cross contacts.
Does anyone on here have a set on their vehicle and not mind posting a few pics! http://www.4x4tyres.co.uk/defender/16inch-...-1571.html Going onto the 110. AJ |

On the contrary, a mate of mine has put these on his 90 and loves them, they fill the arches nicely, just like a set of modulars, and they look the part as well. They are a steel wheel so expect them to be heavy but not notably heavier than mods or 8 spokes.
John Norton of uk winch ropes sells them, good guy. Check out his website. Cheers |

Good looking wheel and quite sad really that it is cheap copies like these that push British engineers like Matt Lee (original manufacturer of the Mach 5) out of business.

yeah its a real shame they no longer make mach5's.
The challenger wheel is honestly horrendous, and i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole. Its absolutely nothing like a near zero off set modular. Driving back to back with the same tyres the challenger wheels make the steering much worse, crashy into potholes and generally gives a vagueness in the steering. The other functional thing is that because of the huge negative offset they stick out beyond the standard arches on 265's! Theres absolutely no need for that on a 7" wheel! Finally if you look at the vehicle from behind you have this odd wide stance but still with the same 265 tyres, which could easliy fit under with zero offset. I bought cooper STT 265/75/16's on challengers and had the guys at 4x4tyres swop them for modulars, so I drove 100 miles in one direction, and then back again on modulars and i can tell you they are night and day! About the ONLY upside is that you will get great steering lock lol. |

Thanks for the replies folks, I think I may go for a set of modulars, I did think that at the price the challengers are they could be worth a punt as they're well below the price of a used set of mach5s, but as usual, low price is for a reason.

Saw a set of these today and whilst from a distance they look good on closer inspection they're not finished off very well as the seam is clearly visible where the rim was formed and joined, the offset as somebody else mentioned is ET-25 which makes the wheel protrude beyond the arch which for a 7" wheel does not quite look right. One of the four purchased needs 'touching up' as there is evidence of bright orange rust at the rim end of one of the spokes.
Whilst it gives the vehicle an aggressive stance and looks good from a distance you pay for what you get springs unwittingly to the forefront of my mind. Mach 5 and ZU 'wannabees' that don't just quite cut the mustard. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
