Sorry should have said it's a 11 plate 2.4 and it's the rear diff
The pipe coming off the axle seems to be a push fit but cannot get it off for love nor money! |

Did the dealer replace it correctly? Seems it is easy to install the new seal the wrong way. See this thread here.

Press the small brass collar that is round the breather where it exits the axle down while you pull the pipe. Blow through the tube to clear it (or to check it's clear) also check there isn't a blockage in the axle fitting using a length of wire.
If the breather is clear, check that there's no play in the pinion shaft bearings and if they're ok consider replacing the oil seal and flange again using genuine parts. I had a similar leak from my front diff, and three separate decent quality aftermarket (not Britpart) flanges also leaked when fitted with new seals. When I measured them, all were out-of-round by several thou, and in the end fitting a genuine flange - which was properly round - with a new seal fixed the problem. If your diff is leaking do make sure you keep it topped up with oil. It will self-destruct surprisingly quickly without adequate lube. |

Mine had this too but been fixed again for the second time.
This time done by main dealer so should be done properly! I agree with above about the topping up but when I wanted to top up I could not get the plug undone what ever I tried! Must have been way over tightened... Sorted now though hopefully. |

Hi thanks for the replys. I will give it a go later on and see if the breather is blocked.
If not I guess the seal is either wrong or installed the wrong way round. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again people! |

The breather wasn't blocked on mine and still leaked but worth checking.

Ok the breather is blocked, not completely but it's certainly not free flowing....
I have taken it off the rear axle, can I leave it off and still drive the car??? Only motorway driving nothing muddy? Just until I get a replacement pipe fitted ? |
