If its a 300 with side facing seats then you wont be able to use at least 2 of the seats in the back with the rear stays in. My uncle had one but unbolted the stays when he wasnt doing the dakars etc. William

How about on a TDCI 90?
SWMBO has suggested getting a cage sorted as she is worried about rollover protection ![]() Is there an internal cage that still allows use of the forward facing folding seats? Cheers, John |

Hi John
The Safety Devices cage is an internal to internal cage which allows use of the rear seats http://www.safetydevices.com/expedition/pr.../276/1133/ This is a bolt together cage rather than a welded in competition cage like William was talking about, the external section at the bulkhead avoids having to strip out and cut the dash as Bowler do with their 90s ![]() Click image to enlarge 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon 1971 Bowler Tomcat 88 4.2 V8 Auto 2022 110 D250 XS Edition - Gone 2024 110 D250 X-Dynamic HSE |

How do you see the risk of roll over vs being struck/striking something whilst it remains upright?
Heads close to rigid cages isn't a winning combination (potentially causing serious injuries/death when there might not have been any) BUT maintaining structural integrity could see you get out of a vehicle that would otherwise have been crushed. If I were going for a cage I'd go external so there's less (and slightly) softer stuff to hit inside the vehicle whilst still having the roll over protection. They're not to everyone's tastes. |
