[For Sale] 2004 td5 90 hardtop, Belize green, 117,000 miles | |
Hi guys,
I've decided with a heavy heart to sell my 90 hardtop as it's become apparent it's just not big enough for me so I'm on the lookout for a 110 double cab utility, I have found a couple I like so would like to sell the 90 first.
I purchased her only in March this year locally with 12 months mot and have since done a few jobs on her.
Being a basic hardtop it was quite raw so I have installed Dynamat extreme to the rear load floor and wheel tubs, swat box and front floor, this has made a dramatic improvement to road noise.
When purchased unfortunately there was no service history, I was confident the defender had been looked after having been owned by a Motorsport team owner and previously a utility company, however I did service her changing oil, gearbox oil, oil filter, rotor filter, air filter and fuel filter. This was done the week after I purchased her.
When purchased there was a small oil leaker from the rocker cover gasket so this was replaced with a genuine item and also the injector loom harness also for a genuine item, I also changed all bolts that secure the rocker cover just in case. No oil was found in the old loom and I still have this as a spare.
She did suffer from a sticking starter motor so a new solenoid was purchased and fitted, she now starts on the button.
The only other mechanical issue I have had is a small coolant leaks from the egr coolant return pipe, this had been rubbing against a screw on the inner wing, this was replaced with a new genuine item and now has no coolant leaks.
Since replacing these items in early March she has not used a drop of either coolant or oil.
She has now covered just under 117,000 miles and runs very well.
Pulls very well and changes gear nicely, 3rd gear is occasionally a bit stiff when cold or in colder months, has been near faultless since the gearbox oil change. The spigot (spelling?) bush is sometimes noisy when cold or for the first few gear changes.
Diff lock works as it should and both high and low range are easily selected.
Originally built with heavy duty springs I have recently ( the last week) fitted new station wagon rear springs and new dampers, I have brand new front springs and dampers which could be included at the right price. I will supply the old springs and dampers which are in good usable condition.
The chassis is very good, no visible signs of rust apart from minor surface in areas, rear cross member has some light surface rust and would probably benefit a rub down a nd re paint.
Bulkhead is very good, nice and solid with no signs of bubbling.
The bodywork is in fair condition, this has been a working vehicle so there are dinks and dents here and there, main areas affected are the doors, mainly around the handles which seems to be common, the rear top sides have some dings from where things have been placed inside and the rear door has a few dings. Fronts wings and bonnet are very good with just some scratches to the bonnet which would benefit from a good machine polish.
Fitted with a mantec/safari type RAI.
Wing top chequre plate.
Interior wise, well it's a defender, no frills, has manual windows, there was no stereo when purchased so I bought a landrover CD player with iPod connection (2011 model). Works fine and comes with code. Being a 2004 it has the "facelift" centre dash which is something I looked for as it's nice for upgrading to elec windows, seats etc.
seats are standard td5 with a few rips marks. Has the standard td5 centre tray fitted.
Wiper relay has been upgraded to the vw timer relay which is nice.
5 x alloy wheels with bfg all terrain tyres, all have various tread but are usable.
New td5 land rover rear mudflaps.
Some adjustment to the steering box could be made as the steering is a little vague.
A new indicator stalk is included as although it works, when turning right it self cancels quickly which can be a pain.
Currently sorned as of 1st September but if asking price is made I will tax for six motnths.
Currently awaiting log book back from dvla as I'm having my private plate removed. Hopefully be here any day.
A healthy donation will be made to the forum if the asking price is made.
There's isn't really room for movement on price, I paid this for it 6 months ago and have done about 2500miles and spent a fair bit of money on her.
I appreciate she isn't the tidiest of defenders and I think the price reflects this but with some more work and love it will be an even better truck.
I feel I've been as honest as possible and will add more info if I remember anything else, please come and view if interested and ask any questions and I will reply as soon as I can.
These pictures are from when I bought her, I will update with new pictures tomorrow.
Price £6800.00
Location is CV13 close to Market Bosworth
Thanks for looking
