Guernsey 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 CSW Rimini Red
Leaks - under rear windows
After today's rain, I have noticed a fair few drips (enough To make the carpet damp) down the interior metal under the sliding windows of my 90. It doesn't actually look like the drips are coming from the windows but lower down, possibly the join between the roof and main body. Is this common and if so what's the best method of fixing the issue, types of sealant etc?

Will take some of the plastic paneling off over the weekend for a better look but it'd be nice to be able to do the job in one and seal it up at the same time if possible.

I had exactly the same thing and used silkaflex, it's a marine sealant/bonding compound and can be over painted. I've also used on boats and it's a superb (although it only comes in a few colours so I used black).

One other thing, check the seam between the sides and rear panels above the tub (next to the windows). I did my tub/sides and then found the water was also leaking in there and running along the inside of the tub, appearing at the low point depending how I parked. PITA to track down until I stripped out the inside and used the hose pipe, now been completely dry for almost a year.

It is more than Likley coming from the rivets under the window! Yes I know I said rivets Shocked my thoughts also. Big Cry
I bought a rivet gun £10 ish and a pack of blind closed rivets of eBay, and a tube of tiger seal.
Drilled out the old rivets, very easy, applied new rivets with tiger seal and no problems since Very Happy
Whole job took me about 1 hour, I was dreading it but actually thoroughly enjoyed it Thumbs Up

Well that's not ideal!

Think I might have to whip the plastic off and trace where the waters coming from before coming to a conclusion in that case seems it could be one of a few things!

Hopefully not the rivets because it's on both sides of the vehicle!

We shall see I suppose Rolling Eyes

9/10 times it's the foam seal between the side panel and the tub, as said any good quality silicone sealer will do the trick Thumbs Up

IF it is the foam seal it's always worth checking the hardtop securing bolts and the little bracket midway along the tub to roof join for tightness. Steve.
