I've just finished fixing a James Baroud Grand Raid Evolution to my 90. Very light for the size, and quality looks excellent.

Bought it from Devon 4x4. Very helpful people there.

Setting off for Arctic Circle on Friday 13th Feb (Sweden and Norway). Will let you know how it performs.

Hi Pete,

Good luck with your travels to Sweden & Norway, you will find Norway brilliant but pricey, I have spent some time there in the past.
My James Baroud, Evasion Evolution roof tent was fitted in November 2014 and I found Devon 4x4 very helpful, so not much use since then. I am looking forward to using it in Brittany in June.

I haven't measured it but the length of the mattress (on the Grand Raid XXL model) is about 89 inches - which is 7' 5" long. It's also over 5 ft. wide. So there should be plenty of room for you and a case of lager.

I'm 6'3-6'4" and fit in a standard Maggi, although if I was buying new I would buy their longer version. But for the deal I got I can't complain. Whistle Whistle Whistle

Thanks, will definitely bear that in mind.

You may be interested to know that instead of storing the ladder in the roof tent I have fitted mine inside the vehicle, overhead on brackets behind the dog guard. This makes it far easier to close the tent on wet & cold days, since the catches can be difficult to operate in these conditions whilst climbing and clinging to the side of the vehicle, as opposed to using the ladder for safe access. This also gives more space inside the tent for bedding and you are not storing a wet ladder around or under your bedding.

Got mine for £420 including an arm resty thingy (translated as a top of the range mobile storage solutions cubby box), roof tent had been used one holiday and slept in three times. Don't think the bloke knew what he had, couldn't get him to sell the fridge though. Bummer

I think it was a good deal, it's the extreme as well, so good and tuff.

I took my ladder apart and cut it down, then reassembled so now can be stored across the width of the vehicle.

If you are after a deal on a Maggi, it's always worth asking Brendan if he's got any ex demo ones.
