Brazil 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Tonga Green
Use of Militec
Hi everybody!!!

Someone had already used the oil aditive "MILITEC" in the puma?

http://www.militecbrasil.com.br/
http://www.militecusa.com/

I used in other cars, especially rally cars, and the results was pretty good, in performance and in resistence in harduous use....

Any thoughts?

Best Regards to all!

I would never use an additive in engine oil. If the oil needed something adding to it, then the manufacturer would have added it. Even more so with the TDCI engines that require a specific Ford-approved oil.

If you need better oil, then buy better oil. Don't try and 'improve' something.

If your oil is knackered (rub it between your thumb and finger to see if it still feels slippery) change it.

Do not having problems with oil, always used Motul 8100 or Penthosin Pento Performance III.....

In fact, Militec isnīt an additive, but a "metal conditioner"....

Change oil every 10k km....in Brazil, untill last year our diesel was high sulfur, so Land Rover considered severe use conditions for Defenderīs maintence....

Sincerelly, Iīm having problems with "false" overheating (just in hot days and towing), engine turn into limp mode very easy.....and Iīm nothing have water consumption, or other problems....changed the cht sensor already, and the next step is try to change the thermostat.....

Thinking that something tha provides less friction inside engine could help to maintain lower temperatures....

regards!

Eric!

Sorry, but what do you mean by "unquote"? Didnīt understand....

Everyone in this forum told me to get a bigger intercooler to solve this problem....

But didnīt get it yet....

Do you think it would really solve the problem?

I have a heavy drive style....learned in a toyota, without turbo, so....foot down all the time....

Regards!

Bom dia Gabriel,

unquote simply means "end of quote"
If you do a search here, you will find recent discussions about the virtue of bigger intercoolers which effectively will bring the air temp down and also lower running temp of your engine. Most recent discussion I can remember was by Alive Tuning, a sponsor on here.

As to your heavy driving style.... ahem, you Brazilians don't ever change, hey? I remember my first trip in Brazil, now 28 years ago, where a enthusiastic Brazilian collegue in a two door VW (4 door cars at the time were considered not masculin enough Laughing ) drove me in record time from Iguazú to Cascavel (my first churrasco and caipirinha experience at our local grain elevator canteen Very Happy ) and further to Ponta Grossa, Curitiba, all the way to Paranagua in just two days..... Forgot his name, but must be something like xxx Senna I think.
By the way, that trip also included my first visit to Porto Alegre in your Rio Grande do Sul, but was lucky enough to fly there. At that time the airport was just a grass strip Shocked ,..... with cows on it when no plane was landing. Rolling Eyes

Certanly Eric!!!

Will open my wallet and buy an intercooler...., but in brazil, we have do be artists!!! I will pay some hundreds punds for it, and some other hundreds to our "state of the art" government, when it arrive here....Do what? we are rich!!!!!! hehe

Well, about our driving style, is because we are dumb and poor, to earn the same dollar that you earn, we need to spend much more time.... And always have a stupid brazilian trying to impress an european.... (for your fun....) heheh

But if this guy really was that Senna, please: Bow down Bow down Bow down Bow down He really was the Best.

Will see Alive Tunning topic for more information....

Thanks a lot!

Remmenber, if came to brazil again, let me know! By this time, the Porto Alegre Airport is already with tarmac, sometime some cow could appear there....but our pilots are good!!! hehe

Best Regards!

Gabriel, I know about the heavy import duties your government slam on about everything that you bring into your country. If you order an intercooler from overseas, ask the seller to put a much lower invoice price than the real one. In the first place you should not pay any EU VAT, and a lower invoice price will lower your Brazil import duties. I doubt that Brazilian customs would go and check sellers websites for prices in case of having doubts, but ask the seller to also remove all real part name details, and put in the invoice a non-existing part name and non-existing product number... Then your customs don't have any reference to establish the real price.... Thumbs Up

Hehehe!!!

Eric, you are doing in the "brazilian way".....hehe

None of your relatives are brazilian? heheh

Certanly will do this way!

The problem is myself, that donīt agree with this problem of "false overheating"... God Bless Tdi!!!!

And not sure that the bigger intercooler will completely solve the problem, but almost convinced....

Letīs see, we are in the winter here now....the 90 didnīt enter in limp mode since last summer...lets see in this summer what happens....

Please, rate my driving style:

Almost an elderly ladie!!!

Thanks a lot, regards!
