United Kingdom 2014 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 PU Keswick Green
Sqeal when pulling away...
14MY 90 PU. Now with 4.5k miles on the clock.

From new there has been a high pitched squeal from the rear axle when the vehicle pulls away from stationary whether held with the hand or foot brake.

It appears for a few seconds then disappears once the vehicle passes walking speed.

It's very similar to the high pitched squeal you get when your brake pads are on the limit.

Playing with the hand or foot brake does nothing to stop the noise.

It also appears (even worse) when cornering at low / walking speed.

Is this a bearing issue?

Before a trip I changed my outer seals in the hubs. I then had a similar sound but from the front. Turns out I had not seated the seals deep enough into the hub. The squeal was the seal rubbing on the stub axel.
The stub axel lock nut was firm, no movement in wheel bearings, and car drove as it should but just squeaked. I did 20K Km and ate a set of pads which brought about the second round of attention.
New seals, and seated the 4 or 5mm required depth into the hub and the squeak has gone. one possibility. My Defender and travels
