It lifts out when you need to get to stuff in the main compartment. You put smaller or often needed stuff in the tray. If you look at the second picture, it shows it in the lifted out state. Here's the picture again: Click image to enlarge |

Thank for the info.
It was just that when looking at the Mudstuff site picture - if you look carefully at the top "lip"/edge - it would seem as if the tray was "screwed down" ... which wouldn't make sense of course. Will now definitely consider buying it - but have the subwoofer cubby and will need to measure first. |

Absolutely agree that it would be limited use if fixed! There's some info on the size on the MUD page; hopefully it'll fit yours! |

Great simple idea...
I have glasses for driving and generally where my sunglasses. however now its getting darker earlier I reach in to find my glasses. Now the cubby box IS the tardis... All manor of the kids toys, 20 CD's, packets of gum, pens, chargers, pad, cables, travel sweets, multi tool, torch...etc etc.... can I find my glasses..... not a chance Think I will be buying this |

Would have been interested to buy one of these, but doesn't fit the SVX cubby due to the subwoofer control location.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Quite like this too.
I can't believe how much stuff I keep in the cubby and like others I could do with a few items near the top. I have the Exmoor XS cubby box which is the same width as the standard but slightly deeper. I think it'll still fit albeit it won't be as snug/neat. It's now on my birthday list |
