Yes the spirit of adventure certainly sold a lot of 4x4's in the good old days. When adventure as allowed. And manufacturers had the guts to say their product could do what we all want to do.
Now days you'd be labeled an environmental vandal, yobbo, or reckless hoon, and no manufacturer would dare attract that kind of publicity to sell their vehicles doing such feats.

Still, LR over the years have always had great 4x4 adds, and slogans to elevate the marketing. Inspirational really, which goes hand in hand with adventure. My Defender and travels

Shame the dam part was done by winching the vehicle from the top rather than using a winch on the vehicle.

Only a tiny bit more real than the Nissan Quishquash adverts with the cars leaping from rooftops. www.td5.org

From what I have read, they did actually winch the vehicle up the damn using the winch on the front of the 90, because they weren't allowed to air the advert if they couldn't prove it was possible. However, the had to run it off a load of 12v batteries in the back of the vehicle because the engine couldn't be run for that length of time on that angle of slope due to the oil. I think they used a crane/winch at the top for when they were doing the filming. But that may all be bo**ocks Laughing

Did anyone else notice the creased front wing on the Series advert after it'd dived into that river at high speed? I'm not surprised Laughing Pete
