That looks stunning, chap! Really do like the colour, and that dark grey/black headlining looks proper too! LR really seem to have stepped up their game a bit with the Defenders Thumbs Up Pete

England 2014 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Aintree Green
So 1 weeks has passed and I am still loving it!!

The highlights for me are:

  • Much more refined than I ever imagined, can do 70-80 on the motorway in quiet comfort.
  • I actually really like the gearbox, more positive gear changes and less notchyness than TD5.
  • The radio and bluetooth phone/music are brilliant, paired my Nexus 5 and hit play in Spotify - very modern.
  • It actually feels solid and well put together (as well as a 60 year old design can be).
  • The premium seats are very comfortable, although they are about to be covered up with new ExmoorTrim covers.
  • The range of the remote key fob works from like the other side of the planet compared to the old TD5 - tested it in the carpark lastnight and I could lock/unlock from 20 cars away!!

Only negative so far would be the quality of the rubber matting (chose rubber flooring instead of carpeting) - it looks cheap and also looks like a 12 year old cut it out with a blunt pair of scissors.

There is a little road noise through the rear wheel arches as they are bare, but I just turnup the bluetooth music and its job done.

Stonechip and or soundproofing for the rear arches are your friend. Thumbs Up

Headlining is very dark grey, nearly black. Total surprise, when I picked it up - but in a very nice way as I much prefer dark interiors. I was expecting the normal white/cream jobbie.

Is this headlining jus coming as standard on XS now then? looks good!

How are you finding the seats, are they noticeably more comfortable for long journeys? does it change what you get in the back?

Not sure if the headlining is standard on XS, I wasn't expecting it, but I am really pleased it has it. Come to think of it I don't believe it was an option when we ordered so may be it is standard.

As for the seats, yes they are more comfortable, worth the money in my opinion. Don't think they make any difference in the back, I think they are just taller and have more padding either side of your back.

I think the dark headlining is standard now on XS spec, think I read this in a dealer note for MY15 Defenders.

Lovely truck. Love the colour - mine is this colour and it really sparkles in the sunshine. I added the premium seats after just a week as I found the standard ones hurt my back. The premiums are excellent - drove mine to Germany in one day and still felt relaxed and comfortable with no back ache.
My wheel arches were tin so I fitted sound deadening and carpet in the back and it made a massive difference. Well worth the effort.
Enjoy the truck - I love mine to bits after 6000 miles in 4 months.
