Parrot, does little else but your calls and is separate to the HU.
http://www.parrotshopping.com/uk/p_parrot_product.aspx?i=120562 You should be able to install it yourself. |

Parrot looks good but how does the microphone work?
I'm worried that with the noise in the cab might make it difficult for people to hear me? And I'm guessing it wires in to the radio somehow? I'm not an electronics expert by any stretch so is this something that a Halfords trained monkey could do? Sorry for so many questions |

Possibly not the route you want to go, but I put an alpine head unit in mine, (cheap one) and it has Bluetooth handsfree, and it's great.

Microphone should be fine, on top of centre dash, steering column or as me top of door pillar are all common locations.
The fitting is piggybacked from the radio wiring IIRC so should be a plug in job, little you could do wrong really. A Halfords chimp could probably do it yes but letting them touch your truck is up to you I wouldn't. You'd be able to do it better yourself I'm sure. At least you'll take care. |

Thank you for your comments Andy, I really don't want to go down the route of a headset I don't like the idea of having one ear blocked off while driving.
Very good point Steve. Will have a look and see how it works out! |

I'm talking about a new stereo (head unit), not a headset.

OHH I see, my apology's Andy.
I'd rather not swap the radio itself as it is quite a good one and I got it for a steal! |

I've fitted a Parrot in my td5 and it works well through a new head unit and standard speakers. The mic. Is routed up the side of the windscreen under the removable trim bit and clipped to the sun visor. Good for 60mph, gets a bit shouty at 70 ! I think I bought the lr wiring adaptor through the mobile centre and it really is just plug and play.

I use a "jabra freeway" clips to my sun visor - it's brilliant and connects to the phone via Bluetooth.

ive got the parrot already fitted , all works ok etc , but don't really like the extra wiring behind the dash
anyone know of a Bluetooth thing that has small screen idea same as parrot for dialling out , but its own speaker and mic like the old car phone kits I was told that parrot own the rights to phone handsfree Bluetooth so any make will all use parrot software ( don't know how true that is) and also the cheaper parrot units have better software then the dearer ones (don't know how true that is either ) , but I would say my cheaper parrot in my van is better than the dearer one in defender , but they are both quite old now so new models may be different |
