Hey folks,
When I bought my defender, it didn't come with it's log book or it's service book. The chap I bought it from is trying to find it in his house! I have read that there is a security code on the security section of the hand book that should outline the alarm code. What's the story, when do I need the code? I was wanting to establish what I do or don't do before and after disconnecting the battery. 2001, 110, CSW. Thanks in advance folks. Cheers Andy |

The security code is a manual way of overriding the alarm in the event of a key fob failure. It involves turning the ignition on and off to enter a four digit code and opening and closing the drivers door. Should only need it if you lose the fob. Should be fine to remove the battery 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I bought mine from an independent dealer in Hampshire in March. They didn't get the service book etc from the previous owner so I didn't get the code either. I went to see them a couple of weeks ago and mentioned this. They phone Land Rover and got the code straight away with no problems. A local independent or main dealer might be able to help, but I guess you'd need to prove ownership first.

Hi pete,
Thanks for your mail though, it's much appreciated being able to ask knowledgable people for advice.. Today I took the landy to paint shop for estimate to touch up and pain the bodywork (once I replace the doors and bonnet), they really didn't give the impression the wanted to do the work. Just seemed to point out problem after problem (where do you stop). I know when people don't want to do something and I felt that's what I was being told today. A shame as I do want to sort some of the problems and smarten up the paintwork....... I guess I could try further afield than Aberdeen (where it's normally 25% more expensive then everywhere else ) Cheers Andy |
