United Kingdom 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Santorini Black
Lowered 90xs
I've decided to lower my defender by 2" along with some new alloys. The retailer has asked me if I want to replace the shock absorbers with bilstein or Koni, or retain the standard shock absorber?

Do I need to replace the shock absorbers or should I keep the standard setup?

Thanks

I would recommend if you are lowering to only do so by 1" and replace the shocks. I went for Bistein also look to up rate your steering damper and ARB. Just my opinion based on what I done. _______________________________

Agree with Gary (nobby) i lowered mine by -2inch and regretted it, never again Wink. If you do decide to you will get away with using your standard shocks however Thumbs Up -1inch is a nice enough drop as fills the arches nicely Thumbs Up CSK Automotive

I have to say I have no problems with -2" and I tow regularly and never find it a problem, however I have driven a defender with both Koni's and Bilstein and the Koni's were a far more comfy ride, depends if you want day to day comfort or all out body control and handling, I'd go for the Koni's personally as he ride is more comfortable Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I wonder if Koni would give more comfortable than bilstein if you fit 18" or 20" wheel.

-2" for me too. Fitted Konis at the same time and ride comfort is superb. Drooped it to get in the garage and don't regret it for a second.

Looks like you have spacers as well Grafty. How far out have you moved the wheels, it looks spot on! www.td5.org

Hi H3nry, I got them from Alive, strangely I am about to swap them out as I go on a revamp. _______________________________
