This subject has recently been raised on the Aussie forum too.
There seems to have been various "fixes" for a chaffing turbo hose over the last couple of years,...hoses with wire coils around them, "ties" attached to hose etc. So, what is the current "fix"? And some owners get a recall notice, and some don't? Pickles. |

To clarify my vehicle already had spiral bound hose before the upgrade. The factory upgrade is a simple bracket that goes under the hose to prevent it touching the steering box.

Wondering if there is Technical Service Bulletin, or other official notification, for this. Would be useful to have before walking into dealers and being told they know nothing about it and never heard of any issues

G'Day Supacat.
The "number" you need for the recall is Q360V2, well that's what is it is in Aus anyway. Mine falls into the Vin range, so I guess it'll be being done. However, after reading info on this forum, I'm worried that my airbox mounting will be damaged during the process, as the airbox has to be removed, and this is apparently difficult with a good chance of the airbox mounting bracket being broken. Thanks, a quick google finds it. Looks like my vehicle is in the VIN range & dealer should be writing to me.

Just had my new pipe and brackets fitted when in getting the rattling ECU fitted properly. (I think it had already had the bracket on the alternator fitted earlier in the year at some point.)
When I drove away from the the dealer the engine sounded much noisier. Low and behold when I opened the bonnet the cover on the air filter wasn't fitted properly. Soon sorted, and back to normal. Also checked non of the air filter mounts were damaged. |

Has anyone had notification from their dealer to have this work done, rather than having it done as it was in for other work?
I'm just wondering if I should wait or jump right in and get it sorted. |

Think mine had this "fix" at the last service. Was ok going in, whistling like a when it came out.
So I wouldn't rush in to get it done. In my experience a decent jubilee clip and plenty of muscle works best. This was the information I posted previously : -
So my MY2013 110 went in to have the new bracket mod fitted to prevent me needing a 4th intercooler/turbo pipe in a year. The bracket is in two pieces. One section (comprised of two pieces) bolted to the alternator and holds the pipe securely. Here is it with the first part bolted to the alternator - you can clearly see where the steering column has been rubbing through the 4th pipe as it shiny and clean: Click image to enlarge And here with the second part enclosing the pipe : Click image to enlarge There is also a second bracket that is bolted just behind the front grille and the pipe rests in this rather than being bolted in: Click image to enlarge **** HOWEVER - PLEASE CHECK THIS ****** To fit the bracket the dealer has to remove the air box : Click image to enlarge When they do this the bracket mounted to the wheel arch liner can be easily broken - as they have done to mine : Click image to enlarge I asked to be in the workshop when they fitted the bracket and the force they used to remove the air box was ridiculous. When they broke the bracket I was told not to worry as "that always happens" and that "the other mounting point is more than enough to hold the air box, you don't really need two." If i hadn't been in the workshop I'm sure they wouldn't have told me about the bracket. **** PLEASE - make sure you check your air box bracket for damage AFTER the updated turbo bracket has been fitted ***** |
