1. Yes, they're just standard fitment as you might use in a car.
2. The wiring is the same but if you want to use LED indicators then you'll need to incorporate ballast resistors to provide sufficient load for the vehicle flasher unit to recognise them. Without, you won't get the trailer flasher indicator in the cab. That all assumes a reasonbly standard towing vehicle. If you've already got LED's and a different flasher unit in the towing vehicle then all bets are off. LED fixtures in incandescent (standard) light holders aren't legal.
You'd be better off with buying LED light units. They will be E marked and thus legal to use on the road. |

But it'd never fail an MOT with them in...because it's a trailer...

It's very unlikely that military lights with screw on lenses are e-marked in the first place. Site sponsors Advanced Factors sell some good LED bulbs. That is true in hindsight as mentioned above, I guess it depends on age and even then questionable.

The chances are that UK military vehicles come under Crown exemption rules so the fact that they may or maynot be E marked or more correctly type approved is irrelevant.
Type approval is required on obligatory lights and the age of vehicles and other considerations are set down in the Vehicle Lighting Regulations. Am not sure how VLR apply to trailers but would assume brake/tail and indicators should be type approved as they would be obligatory lights. Brendan |
