Are you referring to the fans that sit on top of a fire and move the air around with needing to be plugged in?

The Vulcan fan sits on top of the stove and uses a sterling engine, no plug req'd as it uses the heat from the stove.
It looks a great piece of engineering. Darren |

A mate has one in Spain on his wood burner and with it off he notices a change in temp in the adjoining rooms. He certainly likes it. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Can't comment on the Vulcan fan but we run two Ecofan 812's on the top of our stove.
http://www.ecofan.co.uk/woodstove-ecofans.html Our living room is 42ft long and when the two fans are running they certainly move the heat down the room, at a guess they push the heat down about half the length of the room - also we have no ceiling, well we do but it is the roof about 18ft above floor level, in a room with normal ceilings I would think they would be excellent. They spool up within about 10 minutes of lighting the stove. When they start to slow down we know it is time to put more logs on. Certainly one to the best investments we have made stove wise Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

I have one but not a Vulcan. Makes a difference. Better distribution of heat in the room and other areas of house. Instead of relying on convection, the fan pushes hot air out from the stove. I also think we burn less wood. 2011 D4 Nara Bronze
