130 wow
Just picked up the 130 today, this will be the 4th Puma Defender we (my family) have bought.

Early 57 XS 110 Utility, pile of crap = Sold
Late 57 XS 110 CSW, OK for now = still own her, Chelsea Thumbs Up
Early 90 XS CSW, OK = still own her, Stumpy Thumbs Up

So first impressions of the new 130 WOW what a difference the Puma engine is, a different beast altogether, get this. Banging down the road in 6th,,,, corner coming up back off drop into 5th and whoosh power through the corner Shocked there is now power higher up in the revs, dare I say its similar to a TD5 sort of. Thumbs Up 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Are you saying that the 130 has a different variant of the Puma engine or a different mapping?

Surely it'll have the same map as anyone with the latest software update.

Or are you comparing it to an earlier 130? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

What is the gross vehicle mass of a 130? The 110 is 3050kg, and when it's pulling a trailer or full of stuff I think it drives a lot better, just as you describe in fact. Could the heavier 130 be making the ride smoother?

Glad you're pleased with it. It looks good. Personally I love the HD wheels, but that's me. I'd happily stick a set of Michelin XZLs on or some Avon Rangemasters!

How much will the paintjob set you back, out of pure curious noseyness? Looking forward to the pics!

Looking forward to watching its (her?) progression, but the big question: joining Stumpy and Chelsea, what has the 130 be named? Peter

Whistle

I realise that the vehicle is lighter than our current 110 with all the bits bolted to it. Even so it is a very different map, difficult to describe. The torques are still there at the lower RMP but there is now power higher up the revs. Not as good as a TD5 Idea OK here is a thought, its like a cross between the TD5 and Puma Nice Thumbs Up 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile
