At this juncture I would like to point out after seeking professional advice the resounding answer was a definite "NO!" Welcome as ever. Happy hunting Caterham. Can't wait until we eventually hook up if we ever do. Bet you've got some worry lines. Probably only 21 but look like 90. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I'm sure we'll hookup sometime as there's fond memories in my grey matter that will be there for the rest of my years for your part of the world...it's just a question of time.
With the wife working long haul, me doin 12 hrs days and the kids doing swimming x3 per week, key board, gymnastics, 11+ training and my 2 part time job hobbies plus cycling and running I struggle to find too much spare time .... But one day I'll be back down there. Many thanks. |

So back to the drawing board later when I can get back on my laptop to review the wiring diagrams.
In the meantime I've the purple AND black wires for the 12v outlet I plan to put in the back as other have (brill idea)... Up till now when everyone mentioned purple / black wire for aux I assumed it was a purple with black stripe....this is the wire I had in rear arch which fell of...... clearly I don't need it but i'm intrigued as to what it might be used for on some models?? Anyone know? |

Yes it is connected to the anti-worry module page 1619-08 of the wiring diagrams that gives the owner peace of mind, contentment and a worry-free driving experience for the longevity of ownership. What's yours connected to?
Clearly you do. Get a replacement module as soon as possible would be my reommendation. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

just had a thought - well yesterday actually (it happens every once in a while).
from earlier in the post I mentioned how my brakes came on of their own accord (twice??) - Well its not happened again but I did wonder yesterday after having been informed the abs for example doesn't have the facility to bring the brakes on (unlike some of the more modern abs systems). ......am I not right in thinking the xs has some kind of hill start which I presume applies the brakes to prevent it rolling backwards. can anyone describe how this works and what enables the brakes etc? if nothing else it would make for very interesting reading. many thanks,. |

Don't they?
That would explain why I've struggled to get it to work recently I thought they did..... I was on a hill and I must have made such a good job of pulling away without it rolling backwards I thought it had hill start ie were brakes go on so not to roll backward....... I can recall exactly were this occurred and as I write this the memory mist is clearing.....i think I was borrowing my dad's Focus at the time Still can't explain my brakes coming on in that case oh well not happened since. |
