As promised,
Some pictures of our weekend trip. To celebrate the 80.000 km of our Defender we travel down to the south to a place called Termas de Tolhuaca. This place is located around 800 km south of Santiago and the trip took approximately 8 hours considering the detours due the earthquake damages in the highway. We arrive safely to our place, a nice cabin in a farm. (Cost around 85 pound per day if you like) Next day the adventure start with our LR friends with a treeking to Saltos del Malleco (no LR this day) Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge After that a nice barbecue And the tipical comparison between the cars Here a Puma (mine), a TD5 and a TDi300 together That was the first day... In our second day we went to Lonquimay area. This area is accequible through a long railway tunnel now converted to cars. it is the longest tunel in Chile (4.5 km) but nothing compared with your Chunnel.
In Lonquimay we discovered an old Series I still in duty After that we come back through an alternative pass of the tunnel at almost 2000 m, that was really stunning! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge After this stunning trip a thermal bath was waitng for us And at the end we come back to our cabin under a fog like in London But with a Defender its not a problem Click image to enlarge Cheers!! Brilliant! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Awesome! I'm really hankering after some decent outdoors action. I seem to be spending too much time in airports, offices and taxis. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Thanks for the comments, really we spend a pretty nice weekend, quite short but intense
By the way K9F, Chile have some of the best places in the world to fish trouts and salmons and several of the best fishermans from Europe and USA came here to fish. Down to the south is plenty of a fisherman lodges that you can rent. Most famous ones are located in Rio pescado (fish river) Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |
