Good quality 12N socket
Light board on bike rack -not all lights worked so checked the socket on the car and it is full of rust.

Screws holding the cables in are so rusted they won't move, some are disintegrating.

Anyone recommend a good quality replacement 12N socket? The Ring automotive gets bad reviews ( on Halfrauds site).

Also anyone have an aluminium one and are they any good?

as far as I know they all corrode without protection , but give a new one a good spray of battery terminal protector and it will last for years and your only have to spray it once when new

the spray is thick so stays where you spray it

ive never had to replace one yet

Thanks munch.

Will get a LR one (overpriced at £10 + VAT)

Will protect this time with battery terminal grease (and a pvc cover)

Go genuine, if ever you were to sell it (if*) that's the sort of thing people look for.

Not planning to sell. Haven't been to dealer yet, but he's ordered it for me.

Will get LR this time as its not a huge amount in absolute terms.

Maypole one on ebay for £2.55 delivered, LR one £12.00

My local Landrover dealerl supplied a 12n socket made by Hella. No Landrover label on it like the original.

Came in a Land Rover cardboard box though (no i don't mean the car I drive it back in)

The last thing I would be looking out for when buying a used Defender is the manufacturer of the trailer electrics socket! Wink
