Hi folks,
I'm looking at a 2001 TD5 110 Station Wagon, looks in good nick generally with only the doors that look to be in bad condition. I have however noted a couple of things I'm not 100% sure about. Weeping oil on the sump (looks like sump gasket); Weeping oil on the transfer box (not sure if it's gearbox or transfer box oil); The transfer box was replaced about 18 months ago with a disco box. Anything I should be concerned about? The sump gasket looks like an easy enough fix, but what's the reality??? Thanks in advance for any advice offered. Cheers |

It's just gaskets, they are everywhere and decompose after a while causing leaks.
Just had my engine sump gasket replaced which was causing a leak since bought the car over a year ago, garage found the turbo gasket was leaking too! |

Thanks,
I guess that's the question, are the seals on the crankshaft and gearbox normally quite good, I.e. Not a common weakness? I'm ok with wee page provided it's not serious and it's fixable by me. Gearbox out job is not something I can or would wish todo on the driveway. Cheers |
