Did you make the internal volume suitable for the Sub? If it's too small it'll starve the sub of internal volume lower it's output significantly.
Too large isn't too good either. A 8" 500w rms sub should be in an enclosure with dimensions approx* 10x10x12" or there abouts. If not a touch larger. |

Actually... no.
When i had it in the mini the box was 3 times the size. But nevertheless it sounds fantastic. A shame the 10" sub is so deep that i can't make it smaller. 1953 80" 1987 mini city e 2011 90" |

You can have sealed or ported, ported is meant to be marginally better but also needs better air flow room and more tricky to work out.
My own is sealed. |

Depends on the bass you want....... generally sealed is more punchy so suited more to general mix of music, and ported give a more rumbley bass, but beats blur more. |

Interesting reading. I have another 10" viper sub,, maybe i will make a ported box and compare the two.
But at the moment.. a sealed box is good. How do they make those underseat ones if you need a certain amount of... internal volume? 1953 80" 1987 mini city e 2011 90" |

They are smaller cones, 6 or 8 inch, have a different magnet drive, a bit like the shallow mount subs. They are great for what they are, but you will not get the same effect/clarity when playing at volume compared to a passive sub set up

If you have a larger space that needs to be made smaller you'd have to fill it in done way with something or a solid baffle.
IMO the seat boxes are useless because you can't really seal them anyway. On a Puma(and perhaps TD5?) there is plenty of room below the access plate under the cubby. But to use it your talking of undertaking a lot of fabrication work indeed. Frankly in the front IMO there's no room for larger than a 10" at the absolute maximum. An8" in my case but that ones pack a punch in it's self. The limits really are the depths of your pockets in the rear, I'd like a pair of at least 10"s or 12"s in the rear each side as well as the 8" I have in the front. Would take a lot of juice up though and that'd cost about £1000 at least which I'm not prepared to do really. Wouldn't want to be known as extravagant where I live after all. |
