United Kingdom 1997 Defender 110 300 Tdi HT Aintree Green
TDCI 2.4 Fuel Tank Connections
Hi,

Just a little background first. I have fitted a Puma TDCi chassis to my 300TDi powered 110 Defender and with this I have fitted a fuel tank from a 2011 Puma TDCi 2.4l, mounting needed a few modifications as the majority of my leftovers were from my 300tdi chassis i.e. tank guard etc.

The fuel lines from the 300tdi engine are the originals and not colour coded connections at the fuel tank connection. So what I would like to ask is which of the two connections from the fuel sender are fuel pickup and fuel return i.e. left/right as fitted with connectors pointing towards engine.

Aslo need to know if the fuel sender connections are adaptable from a 300tdi loom to connect to the Puma connection on the fuel tank.

Any help would be hugely appreciated as this is the final stumbling block before I get back on the road.

Many thanks.

Hi

I believe that the 2.4 puma and later 300tdi (ROW spec) have the same fuel tank sender unit. So you could convert your 300tdi to LR standard with the later fuel lines. They are expensive but it would be a good solution. I also seem to remember that the sender unit has an arrow indicating the direction of flow of the fuel. If not remove the unit and see which one is the fuel pick up.

If the sender units are the same then the later loom would also have the correct connector but you can adapt the existing loom. The connector plug looks like a 300tdi indicator light plug but has more terminals so I think you could source this four pin plug and terminals and connect the wires.

Hope this helps. 1995 300tdi Defender 90 P/UP
