What would be more worrying still would be if the reply had detailed actual plans.

As a programmer I've spent the last 3 year automating the administration of a large company. I've talked to financial, hr, it, support and many other people. They explained how they work and how the system should work, but mostly they explained the business processes and the pitfalls.

Now I have to explain those same procedures and pitfalls to them because they rely so much on the system they forgot their own job. I can understand questions on HOW to do stuff, but WHY is beyond me.

Thank God some do remember, but there are a few I have to explain stuff to over and over and over and over and over ... and over again and again and again...

On the other hand, I get paid well Laughing

You know what Albert Einstein said:

Albert Einstein wrote:

Two things are infinite: the universe, and human stupidity. But I'm not sure about the universe...

Gavin, ah yes, but do you own a blue Defender 90 and live in the south of England? Now left.

I swear my mother thinks soap characters are real people....

This kind of thing is a daily occurrence though isn't it? How many of us have had someone try to ram their way into your path when merging from a slip road into the main carriageway? Happened to me today and got every gesture under the sun because I didn't speed up/slow down/move over to let them on. I have no reason to, the highway code is perfectly clear on that point. And yet this kind of thing happens day after day...last night I saw a car that had (apparently) tried to drive underneath an artic.

I agree that we have reached a level in society where people are so wrapped in cotton wool that most wouldn't function without that support. I read somewhere that if the electricity went out for long enough some massive percentage of the population would be dead within a month. How terrifying is that? Think though how few people can even light a fire. 2011 110 USW

Tell you what, I'm into space stuff, and I remember reading an article years ago about how likely a large asteroid hitting us really is - and sending us back a few hundred years for some time. The article was really scarey, saying how we would (or rather wouldn't) cope without electricity. Of course, there's that old saying: We're only three meals away from fighting each other in the streets. We really are. We're right on the verge (literally maybe months away) from very many people using 3D printers to make themselves hand guns. Maybe not such a bad idea for the future... Confused Now left.
