Hello,
I have a Alpine SWE-1200 Compact 8" Active Enclosed Subwoofer on the way, its the same one as the high spec'd defender's which sits behind the cubby box. Question is how do you place it behind the cubby box, double sided tape, drilling ? whats the bracket ? Where do you hide the amplifier ? 2016 Defender 90 Adventure Edition |

I bolted the woofer to the back of the cubby box, amp unit went in the battery area under passenger seat and the two control knobs are velcro'd inside the cubby box.
All quite close to keep wires tidy. Cheers, John. 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

I stand corrected that is passive, don't see that too often.
Placement options could be under the cubby. (If enough room and air flow / space) or battery box. Either side would do but battery side is probably easiest for wiring. Word of warning though if you mount it in there it can be damp or get condensation in there, particularly near the bottom. When I had my HU external source unit in the other seat box (not battery side) I had it placed in the bottom for a while. When I took it out it was rusting. And very damp almost wet. Whipped it out and now located behind my RHD drivers seat. |

I don't know if you sorted this or not - I've got the same subwoofer that I'm just installing after looking at it sitting in my garage for the last 12 months.
1. Cubby box unbolts from seat box via four T30 torx (2012 XS). Surprisingly mine were quite loose, so may apply a little loctite 222 to the threads when fixing it back down. 2. I bolted the subwoofer to the cubby using four M8 35mm fixings to replace the ones from Alpine - made up a template with a piece of paper from the base of the subwoofer and applied it to the cubby box, then drilled through the box so i actually ended up bolting through to the outside of the box into the unit (its pretty obvious you have to do this when you try fitting). Suggest if you do the same using a drill bit that is just a touch bigger than an m8 (i think these are the bolt sizes for the bracket fixings supplied by Alpine) to give you a bit of slack in case your drill holes are just a little off err.. perfect positioning. 3. The amp unit is in my battery box but I used 2" velcro to secure it onto the side so I didn't have to drill any more holes. Used the existing grommets in the battery box to pass the cables out of the battery box and through an existing hole in the seat box base, under the cubby box (needed a grommet as there was just a piece of tape over it direct from the factory) to the control box (velcroed on to front of cubby in what I think is the standard position) and to the sub itself. RCA/Phono leads slipped under carpet and up to head unit. Still need to finish it all off but it's too hot to be sweating under the Landie, so will take a break and have a look tomorrow.... HTH. H |

@ HTB
The bolts that hold the cubby down are exposed to the elements and often corrode into the rivnuts, it's worth applying copperslip or similar when you reinstall |
