Water leaks, curing them slowly....
OK, think I've cured the leaks through the flaps below the windscreen.
Next ones seem to be where the window meets the bulkhead. There is a foam seal, now I always thought foam wasn't actually a seal but would let water through/soak up water? I've also found a part with the foam is actually missing so think this is the main point of entry.
I assume it will be a big old job to replace the actual seal itself?
If so I may just use some sealant to seal the hole.

The window seal is past its best as well, but thinking of upgrading to heated screen if that needs changing...that should be fun, never messed with windows and seals yet Confused

Hello Buz

Keep going and try to fix them all, it's worth it just to be able to drive around without your wellies on Exclamation

The foam seal between the upper and lower body or between the front window and vent bodywork (on bulkhead)
is as you guessed a major job, I have seen it done on a full respray where the defender was split right down, and
I have heard that it is possible to remove and insert the window seal without this step, but have no first hand experience of this, someone on here may (will) know.

Suggest you do the obvious first, use silicon elsewhere to prove the job is worth it to improve things further.

Thanks chaps
Ive bought some PURAFLEX 40 POLYURETHANE HYBRID BASED SEALANT, which i would assume is the same sort of thing?
I was thinking of cutting some of the foam out, mask either side of the foam and then seal over the foam, smoothing it out for a decent finish?
Also as a temp fix on the screen, mask around the rubber then put the sealant in the cracks, I realise this won't be permanent but until i sort out the screen may help hold back the tide Confused

I know they all leak and you won't stop all of it but the more i can the longer the carpet stays dry Wink
