Microcat shows 'SWITCH-INDICATOR/HORN/ HEADLAMP DIP' for the Puma models, so that part is correct.
Your part didn't arrive in a blue Britpart bag by any chance??? |

I bought it off ebay from someone who had himself bought the incorrect part. It is in a Britpart box with the part number on the box.
Perhaps all is not as it should be and the box does not contain the correct part! Its not hugely expensive, I will buy a replacement from a known source. Many thanks for your assistance. Mike |

Buy genuine or OEM, not a Chinese copy. You'll be buying again before long if you do 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but my recent experience bears out Martin's closing comments.
The original indicator/horn/dipped beam switch suddenly packed up on my Puma back in December 2013. A quick call to Craddock's established that a genuine replacement would cost £130-ish or a Britpart alternative (XPB101290) would be £19-ish. Given the reassurance that the Britpart component had a 2year warranty, and the imminence of the Christmas holidays, I took a punt on the cheaper option and got a reliable local garage to fit it. From the outset, it was clear that the angle of the new switch lever did no suit the Puma dash layout, and fouled it under certain circumstances - i.e. you could not indicate + select main beam at the same time!! Fast forward to June 2014, and the dipped beam headlamps developed an intermittent fault, and I sometimes had to flick the lever between the dipped + main beam settings to stir them into life. Very soon afterwards, dipped beam packed up completely & I was left with only side lights or main beam. My local main dealer diagnosed a faulty relay and duly replaced the part. However, a day or so later, the intermittent fault reappeared. A second visit to the main dealers firmly pointed the finger of blame at the Britpart switch & a genuine part replacement was fitted. Problem solved!! So, from my personal experience, the moral of this story, is to avoid fitting $hitpart parts as it will probably cost you more in the long run. Lesson learned!! I will be taking this matter up with Craddock's, as they were responsible for selling this crap to me. '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci |
