Coax BNC earthing
I have a few Panorama body mounts on the 110 for various aerials, the coax runs to under the back seats and has a BNC plug and barrel connector at the end so I can plug in the radios as and when needed.
The leads get in the way in the back, so to tidy them up I am going to mount some BNC panel mounts in a plastic box so I can do away with barrel connectors.
I was thinking would it do any harm (or maybe even help) if I was to earth the BNC panel mounts to the body of the 110? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Morning Excossack,

If the outer sheath screens of your cables are correctly terminated to the BNC connectors and your connecting equipment is earthed correctly as soon as you mount them to the panel the panel itself will be grounded anyway. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

The radios connecting are only earthed via the earth power lead.
So, would adding an extra earth do any harm?
Would it be worth looking at adding an earth from the rear section above the back door(which is where the panorama mounts are to earth? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Your radio is earthed, your aerial is earthed, their earths are connected together via 1) the coax's screen via the BNC connections and 2) the vehicle body.

Earthing's always good but surely everything that needs earthing is already earthed? The screen on coax is good enough by itself and you've got more than that already. I wouldn't go to the effort of adding yet more unless you've got a specific reason to.
