Did it when I was 23 (25 years ago) packed in the job and travelled round Aus for a year. Got back to England with virtually nothing, not even a tent to sleep in.
Would recommend it to anybody, it's the greatest feeling ever to walk out/away from a job that ties you down. Obviously it doesn't suit everybody but it's a very Steep learning curve and builds on character which can be drawn upon later in life.

I packed in my job to become a house husband. Granted there's no amazing traveling but having no boss and freedom to go where I want when I want is quite nice.
