Cruise Control Throttle Programming
I just installed a Mobile Centre Cruise Control kit.

For some reason I can't get the throttle programmed.
Ran the diagnostics and everything checked out. When I go to set it up, I only get a low tone beep that only stops when I press the brake. If I try to program it at 80% throttle, I get a low tone beep. If I press it 100%, it goes to high tone beep.
Went for a drive but can't get it to work. Please help. I leave on a long trip this saturday and cruise control is a must.

Has anybody had this problem before? Contacted Mobile Centre 2 days ago but haver't heard from them.

I had a problem - mine was poor solder connectivity to the speedo output on the back of the binnacle (there was continuity, but not enough):-

Few questions (+ what mine did in brackets):-

Does your stalk light up green on one push? (yes).
Throttle calibration (mine worked fine).
Push stalk to + above circa 30mph - does light go orange (no).

Have you put unit into test mode and checked the clutch and brake pedal switch responses? (Both fine).
In test mode check for beep above min required speed (no beep).
In test mode engage cruise (stalk went orange - throttle to idle).

It took and age to find problem on mine - if your symptoms are the same redo the solider joint on the back if the speedo (of course check you have the correct pin).

Regards

Mark.

Hey Mark,

Tried the diagnostics mode and everything checks out, except the speedo test.
When I drive it I hear a beep but the beep doesn't increase with acceleration like the manual says. It stays constant as long as the Defender is moving.
So I might have the same problem as you.
How did you solve the issue? I checked my connection and it seems fine.

Thanks,

Ze

Hi

I don't have one of Tim's at Mobiles systems, but guess they all are very similar kits

The initial problem i had with mine, was the speed pulse signal was too week when taken from behind the dash,,but was cured by picking up the pulse direct from the gearbox speedo sensor California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

I took it to someone to check, they spent a long time. About 6 hours!!

There was continuity in the wire, but the the solder joint was dry (looked and felt ok and would pass multimeter current).

From TJ's similar symptoms, I would be looking here; either take the signal direct, or re-solder with good quality solder.

Mark.
