I'm sure you've watched a load of my films showing us laning and off roading all very competently. Well in my case at least it isn't always quite like that!!!

Looks muddy!
I've found that with my 110 if you put in low range and lock the diff, and take all your feet off then it's impressive what the anti-stall will get you through! Momentum doesn't always help but that did look sticky as hell! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Yeah I think I might have been beyond that approach. Everyone else who got up did so in one go without stopping.
I see your in Cheshire. I'm near Northwich. Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos. |

Depends on gearing too of course, revving in low range will soon make some wheel spinning occur.

Yeah all of the first attempts were in 2nd because I didn't have enough space to get it into 3rd. When I pulled right back and started i tin 3rd my momentum took me up Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos.

I like 2nd in low range but keep revs low, 1st in low on antis tall for real crawling.
1st in high is good too for areas a bit more speed is useable but no good for rocks or anything like that. |

Yeah I'm sandiway, not far from you. Know northwich well (lucky me eh!?) Don't think I've seen you around though? I considered joining low rangers but I decided my 110 isn't kitted out enough and I'm too worried about damaging it! Considering getting a more rough&ready greenlaner/off-roader though at some point, which may make it more viable. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Yeah mine is in the garage when not in use. It's definitely not a daily drive. I actually live in Hartford just off the bypass.
There are a few lads with posh cars who come out and we just have to pick and choose the days that suit them. I'm lucky in that mine is a weekend vehicle! Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos. |

Better change your title quick. You're not allowed to use 'slope' now as it can be seen as racist according to the PC woman who is suing Jeremy Clarkson
Anyway, always enjoy your vids. Especially the horsey one. I wish you'd come over our way and teach some of the riders lessons. Had two teenagers side by side, both on mobile phones, both with no control and they didn't even give a courteous thank you when I had stopped to let them through.... We'll done on your Landrover Monthly write-up Steve |

Traction, torque and momentum are all key elements to negotiating tricky terrain. I have seen Defenders on a flat wet grassy field not being able to move off from a standing start. Plenty of torque available as well as traction but no momentum. Another situation see a Defender with raod bias tyres dealing with some tricky terrain just cos it had momentum. You can have the best mud grabber tyres, a torquey engine and momentum and still get stuck! Getting out and having a look before tackling any dodgy ground is the way ahead in my experience.

BFG KM2's. They do me proud in almost all conditions but they didn't like that. Well I say that. They didn't like it once they were full of crap. This was probably the only obstacle that stopped me all day. It just stopped me in an embarrassing fashion!! Check out my YouTube channel for green laning and Land Rover "how to" videos.
