The trouble with all these 6-wheel conversions is that they are actually functionally rather useless, however well executed! The addition of the third axle doesn't increase the GVW at all, and consequently the weight of the axle plus driveline etc actually reduces the payload from than of a standard vehicle. It also generally reduces, rather than increases, the off-road mobility of the vehicle. I imagine that rear tyres scrub down quite quickly too.
The bottom line is that if you need the third axle conversion, you probably shouldn't be starting with a Landrover!
There are, I agree, some sepcialist exceptions to the above generalisation.
That being said, they do look quite cool, and as a novelty have an attraction (not as much as Laird's "Centaur" conversion, though)!
